DataMan® 100 and 200 Series Readers provide the ultimate combination of high performance and versatility in an incredibly small fixed mount ID reader. The readers provide 1D and 2D code reading on all models and the ability to read even the most challenging 2D direct part marks.

Cognex DataMan image-based ID readers represent a breakthrough in reader technology by combining unmatched code performance (up to 45 reads per second) and ease of use in a small, compact package. Lighting, camera, processor, and communications are all integrated into an exceptionally small, industrial-rated housing, making the DataMan fixed-mount readers ideal for the most demanding applications.

DataMan 200 Series Readers

The DataMan 200 Series readers feature the industry leading performance and functionality of the DataMan 100 Series readers, with the addition of Ethernet connectivity and the world’s first introduction of Liquid Lens, Variable Focus technology on a fixed-mount industrial ID reader product.

The DataMan 3.2 Software (released November, 2008) includes several new features for the DataMan 100 Series Fixed Mount Readers that provide significant new capabilities.

MultiCode Capability

The DataMan 100 readers now support the ability to read multiple codes in the field of view! “MultiCode” provides the ability to read multiple codes in a single image (single or self trigger mode) or in a sequence of images (burst trigger mode) with DataMan 100 Series readers. The reader is able to read different code types (1D/Stacked, Data Matrix, QR) at the same time, and can read up to 128 codes at once!

In addition, the reader can also store a ‘train’ model for each code type (1D/Stacked, Data Matrix, QR) for even more robust reading.

Burst Trigger Mode Improvements

The ease-of-use in setting up burst trigger mode applications has been significantly improved. It is now possible to view a complete sequence of burst mode images in a filmstrip, to allow for adjusting settings of trigger delay, burst length and interval between acquisitions to better match the specific application.

QR Code Improvements

The QR code performance has been improved when reading with perspective distortion, especially on high-contrast labels.

VeriCode® Capability

DataMan 100 Series readers now also have the ability to support VeriCode® symbology. The VeriCode reading capability is not enabled in the basic system and requires the purchase of a license file from Veritec in order to use the feature.

DataMan Fixed Reader Accessories

To simplify and speed up the system integration process, Cognex offers a wide range of optional accessories designed specifically for use with the fixed mount Dataman 100 Series readers.

- SensorView: SensorView™ 350 is a compact, rugged, panel-mount display that can now also be used with the DataMan 100 Series fixed mount readers. More than just a display, SensorView provides production statistics and view of the parts and codes that DataMan is reading. This enables operators to easily monitor their production process, change jobs, or retrain patterns without a PC.
- Extension Cable: 5 meter extension cable for RS-232 connections.
- Universal mounting bracket: Provides adjustable mounting for DM100.
- Basic IO Box: Provides I/O breakout including 2 inputs and 2 outputs. Supports USB and RS-232 connections.
- Extended IO Box: Provides I/O breakout including 2 inputs and 8 outputs. Supports USB and RS-232 connections.
- DPM Light: Enhances reading performance on challenging DPM marks and provides uniform on-axis or off-axis light. DM100 mounting is included with the light.
- SHD Lens-Super High Density Lens: 16 mm lens kit for DM100. Enables any DM100 to read 2 mil DM codes. The lens is fully adjustable and allows the user to set working distance.
- C-Mount adapter: The ultimate in lens flexibility. The C Mount adapter allows most standard C-mount lenses to be used with the DM100.
- ESD Safe Red Lens Cover: 100% safe for use with static sensitive electronic devices and prevents static discharge in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1 and IEC 61340-5-2. The red filter reduces non-red ambient light intensity by 50% and improves reader performance by minimizing the impact of changes in ambient environment.
