RFID Site Survey and Analysis
You no doubt have heard about the benefits RFID can bring to your business – increased efficiency, speed and monitoring to name only a few. Because the technology is relatively new to the industry, you may not be aware of all of the advantages of RFID technology and how it can add productivity to your business. That’s why ScanOnline is here for you.
The use of wireless technology, it is extremely difficult to predict the strength of radio waves and detect the presence of interfering signals without the use of specialized test equipment. Radio waves do not travel the same distance in all directions. any type of obstacle offers varying degrees of interference, which cause the radio frequency (RF) pattern to be irregular and unpredictable. As a result, an RFID site survey should be performed to understand the facility, the strength radio waves and the speed of the wireless network the application requires.
The goal of an RFID site survey is to gather enough information to determine the number and placement of your RFID equipment so that you will have the coverage required. Coverage required usually means the support of a minimum data rate in a given area. An RF site Survey will also detect the presence of radio interference coming from other sources that could degrade the performance of the wireless LAN.
The need and complexity of an RFID site survey will vary depending on the size of the facility and the application that is to be accomplished. A site survey is a good idea for the use of any wireless device because of the coverage and speed required for the success of the application. The purchase of wireless equipment is no small expenditure, so it is best not to leave any portion of the project up to chance.
There is an attempt to use the same type and model of the equipment that will be used for the application. At that time a report is generated with the consulting of the facility manager for current or future plans
RFID Site Survey and Analysis:
- We’ll conduct a RFID and RF System Analysis to determine the presence and level of any existing RF interference.
- Through on-site testing, we’ll validate the hardware recommendations from the manager for the application being installed.
- By tagging and reading your products, under actual conditions, we’ll determine read range capabilities and needs.
